Maison Margiela was founded in Paris in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela and business partner Jenny Meirens, after Margiela's years at the Royal Academy of Antwerp and as design assistant to Jean Paul Gaultier. The house is defined by deconstruction, anonymity, and a conceptual approach to luxury, identifiable by its blank white label and four white stitches.
