Enfants Riches Déprimés was founded in late 2012 by artist and designer Henri Alexander Levy, who began the label while studying art at UCLA. Translating as "depressed rich kids," the brand operates between Los Angeles and Paris and is built on what Levy calls "elitist punk", drawing on 1970s French punk, 1980s Japanese avant-garde, and conceptual art.
Denim is produced largely in the brand's Los Angeles atelier and treated as a hand-finished material. The collection includes slim and straight-leg jeans with painted, distressed and embellished detailing, often reworked with graphics, patches and hardware drawn from the wider house vocabulary. As with the rest of the brand, every wash and finish is intentional.
